24. Jesus and You
You have been reading the story of Jesus. You read how God made the world. You read how God made people. You learned the first people broke God’s law. All people do wrong now. People who do wrong must die.
You learned that God promised to send His Son. His Son is Jesus. Jesus was born as a human. He is also God. He lived on this earth. He had the same problems we do. Jesus never did anything wrong. He did much good. Evil people hated Him. They killed Him. Jesus was dead for three days. God made Jesus alive again then. Jesus is in Heaven with God now.
This story is true. It really happened. It is a story for you.
You have done wrong. The Holy Bible says that all people have done wrong (sinned).
God says all who do wrong must die. God means their bodies will die. He also means their spirits must go to Hell. Hell is a place of fire. It is punishment for doing wrong. Hell will last forever.
Here are words about doing wrong (sinning) from the Holy Bible:
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (Revelation 20:14)
We do wrong. Jesus did not do wrong. We should die and go to Hell. Jesus should not die or go to Hell. He should not be punished. Jesus chose to die. Jesus chose to be punished. Jesus was punished for us. He was punished so we do not have to be.
Here is what the Holy Bible says about what Jesus did:
. . . while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (from Romans 5:8-9)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
The Holy Bible says Jesus died so we could live. Jesus made peace with God for us. God promised to forgive us for doing wrong. God promised we could be with Him in Heaven when we die. God promised that Jesus will come again. God promised Jesus will bring our bodies back to life when He comes. The Holy Bible has a word for these things. The Holy Bible says that people who are forgiven and living forever are "saved." These are great promises.
The promises are for you, but you have to take them. They will not do you any good if you do not. God says:
You must believe you have done wrong (sinned).
You must believe Jesus died for the wrong you have done.
You must really believe that God made Jesus alive again.
You must trust Jesus to forgive you.
You must trust Jesus to give you a new life.
You should also pray and tell God you take the Lord Jesus for yourself.
If you do these things, God will forgive your sins. He will also make you live forever. You will go to Heaven when you die. When Jesus comes back, He will make your dead body alive again.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
. . .Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. . . (Acts 16:31)
That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Do you believe in Jesus? Pray and say, "God, I have done wrong. I have sinned. I believe that Jesus died for me. I believe You made Jesus alive again. I take Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive my sins. Please make me live forever. Thank you. In Jesus name, Amen."
If you prayed this and really believe, your sins are forgiven. You will live forever. Now you should try to please God.
