3 John 5-8

Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have born witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

  1. What two groups of people were Gaius commended for dealing faithfully with?
  2. Who told about Gauis’ good deeds, Gaius or those he helped?
  3. Were the traveling ministers that he helped most likely getting wealthy at what they were doing, or serving at personal sacrifice?
  4. What bigger cause was Gauis helping by helping those traveling brethren?
  5. a) Should we help all religious workers, or do we need to limit ourselves to those who are true representatives of Jesus Christ? b) According to 2 John 10-11, on what should we base our decision as to whom to help?
  6. We as individuals may not always be called upon to help traveling Christian workers. What are some other ways that we can be “fellowhelpers to the truth”?
